Privacy risks online

Consider the Giant communication websites of the Net, Facebook, myspace one of many website where you give your details to make an account whether making a ebay account or a email account, how much information are you willing to give?, and in view of how many people?
Here are the arguments for and against having online details
starting with against
1.The personal details of 100 million Facebook users have been collected and published online in a downloadable file, meaning they will now be unable to make their publicly available information private, it is a torrent that one could download to search the details of whoever they like, if the privacy settings on your facebook were open to public viewing when it was compiled then your details will still be viewable even if you have changed your privacy settings.

2. Identity theft: a form of fraud in which someone pretends to be someone else by assuming that person's identity, this could easily happen to anyone, you could be sent an email with someone posing pretending to be your bank and ask for you to give your pin number and then before you know it you check your account and there is nothing left.

Argument for giving details online
1.There are many benefits in giving details to websites, where you can gain membership to use their services and it won't cost you, for example Ebay,Facebook, myspace,Twitter,Bebo, runescape even Lord of the rings online is free now
2. Keeping incontact is an important part of life, because it's not just what you know, it's who you know, and there are websites where you can display your resume to employers or get back incontact with high school friends.

One must consider how much of their details they want circling online, because once it's online its hard to get rid of it for sure, but for many they enjoy the benefits of social and business building type website services, always be careful
